Beautiful scenery in Vichy with thousands of spectators
Across the weekend of 21-22 July the beautiful, natural site, will welcome some of Europe’s greatest jetski racers, at amateur and professional level, who will be battling it out for the win.
Adopting a simple race format, the event is split into two classes – Pro and Amateur. Racing sees riders reach speeds of up to 120km/h as they take on a 15-minute closed course race of 37 race marks, twelve turns and two log jumps.
The European series tour has already tackled courses in La Seyne-sur-Mer, France and Lacs Eau D’Heure, Belgium, but Vichy will throw up the biggest challenge yet as racers face a narrower course layout and concrete banks either side of the track.
The reality of these concrete banks is choppier conditions which will make for a truly thrilling watch and means racers will need to be on the top of their game and adapt their skills to navigate the courses.
Julien Bastien is the Head of P1 AquaX and Jetcross for Europe and commented on the upcoming event: “Vichy is definitely a special venue for the Jetcross series. We are very glad to once again be working with Vichy council, offering the riders one of the best hosting facilities in the world for a PWC event.”
If seeing the action from the series unfold isn’t enough of a thrill, world-famous French freestyler, Thomas Auzou, will also be leading a Freestyle display out on the water where he, and other world-class freestylers will be making waves in more ways than one!
The event in Vichy welcomes all spectators and will have a variety of exciting entertainment and expos on offer, as well as food and drink outlets and a children’s play area.
Two more events will follow Vichy – Le Bouveret, Switzerland (18-19 August) and So’Fun Village, France (15-16 September) so there is still plenty of opportunities for people everywhere to catch the action from these world-class competitors.

20-21 July, 2019
Vichy is known as the 'Queen of the water towns'
Nestled in a bend in the Allier River, Vichy is one of France's most luxurious locations. The peak era of this Auvergne spa town saw visitors flocking there to drink its healing waters and bath in its thermal springs. Vichy has kept its reputation as a health retreat, helped along by the reputation of the cosmetic brand named for the town. Tree-lined boulevards laid out in the 19th century, and art-deco buildings such as the Opéra de Vichy, add to the town’s nostalgic feel. Among Vichy's turn-of-the-century mansions and riverside parks, there’s a rich collection of confectionery shops as well.
Source of health, beauty and wellness since ancient times, the Spa town of Vichy (France) is recognized worldwide for the benefit of its waters. Great names of history, from the seventeenth to the nineteenth century, attended the Spa town of Vichy and have left their mark on the architectural style of one of the most prestigious French Spas.
Tentative Race course 2019
Athletes will race in the beautiful Lake Allier, using the rowing race infrastructure to guide themselves through the course, where hundreds of spectators will line the course to cheer the riders to the finish.
All activities for the P1 JETCROSS TOUR will be located at the Centre Omnisports Pierre Coulon (registration, pit area, track, VIP hospitality, expos, children playground area, drinks and food, the awards ceremony), making this an ideal venue for spectators.
