Jetcross riders make the journey to Thailand

Jomtien Beach, Pattaya City, Thailand, is currently hosting the annual Thai Airways International Jet-ski World Cup 2018

Global marine motorsport promoter, Powerboat P1, is thrilled that riders from two of its series are racing in the tournament! The event sees some 250 personal watercraft (PWC) riders from across the world come together to mark the end of the PWC season. Across four days, riders take to the crystal-clear waters of Jomtien Beach, where they compete in one of six Pro categories which include Pro Ski Grand Prix, Pro Sport, Pro R/A 1100, Pro R/A, Pro Freestyle and Endurance.

So, who are the P1 AquaX and P1 Jetcross names vying to make their mark on this year’s event?

One of the pros representing the USA is legend of the PWC world, Chris MacClugage, who is fresh from his third-place finish in the P1 AquaX USA Series. MacClugage has competed in the Pro Sport category at the Thai Airways International Jet Ski World Cup for a number of years and will be looking to retain his first-place position in the Pro R/A GP.

2018’s P1 AquaX Pro Rookie of the Year, Christian Daly, will also extend a fantastic year by joining the line-up after making his debut in the Pro Enduro of the P1 AquaX US series just this year. In Thailand he is riding alongside some familiar faces from the USA series including Eric Lagopoulos, Troy Snyder, Jason Lester, Mike Klippenstein and Anthony Radetic.
European representation comes from, Jeremy Vohlgemuth, who won the P1 AquaX Sprint Pro Ski category of the P1 AquaX Euro Tour presented by Experience Kissimmee, back in Port Balís, Barcelona, this year. Still on a high from his victory, the extremely talented pro-am rider will be up against tough competition in the Far East as multi times AquaX Sprint UK Champion Simon Gill.

As for representatives from P1 Jetcross, Frenchman Jeremy Poret’s, has made the trip – one that he has made before. The reigning P1 Jetcross champion took the title in the World Cup’s toughest category, the Pro Ski GP at the event last year. With an unrivalled determination, he will no doubt be looking to clinch victory once again.
In the category Poret will be racing against fellow French Jetcross riders, Valentin Dardillat as well as his two brothers, Mickael and Morgan Poret. Raphaël Maurin was a wild-card by this year’s organisers so will also be on everyone’s ‘one to watch’ list.
There is a lot at stake for this year’s riders with a prize purse of $270,000. And, those that race to victory will have their name engraved on the official Royal Trophy which has been bestowed upon the tournament by His Majesty King Rama X.
