The countdown is underway to the fifth and final round of the P1 Jetcross race series which will see around 100 riders from twelve countries compete in Switzerland later this month (24-25 August).
Hosting the two-day event on Lake Geneva - presented by Experience Kissimmee and featuring both Pro and Amateur stand-up jet ski racing - will be the charming Valaisan village of Le Bouveret at the southernmost end of the lake close to the French border.
The series comprises five rounds in three different countries across four months, featuring venues on the Mediterranean coast, central France, Belgium and Switzerland. Julien Bastien, Head of P1 Jetcross, is excited about the prospect of racing on the lake again: “Le Bouveret is a heaven for water sports and a host of lakeside events but, more than anything else, it really knows how to welcome visitors. This is a peak time for tourists and we are expecting thousands of spectators to make it a memorable event at a very special venue. My thanks go to the Council of Port Valais and Tourism Board in Le Bouveret, Experience Kissimmee and to Philippe Tesse and Michel Gex at the Federation Suisse Motonautique for their valuable support.”
The Mayor of Port Valais, Pierre Zoppelletto is looking forward to the racing: “On behalf of the Town Council, it will give me great pleasure to welcome back the Jetcross riders, officials and spectators for a weekend of sport and entertainment for everyone to enjoy. My thanks go to the Organising Committee, volunteers all those involved in planning and staging this international event.”
Sponsoring the event is Experience Kissimmee, the leading travel and tourism authority in Central Florida, and John Poole, Executive Director of Kissimmee Sports Commission, explained: “We’re committed to support and bring a unique sporting events to our sunny destination and sharing the Kissimmee, Florida story around the globe. Partnering with P1 Jetcross gives us the chance to work with a superb sporting brand as well as reach the European audience through the race event and international TV coverage.”
The three Pro Tour races last month on the River Allier in Vichy produced three different winners, with Frenchman Valentin Dardillat emerging as the overall winner thanks to consistent performances. Anthony Beernaut and Jeremy Poret were the other race winners. It was a good weekend for Experience Kissimmee-sponsored rider Alec Enderli who finished on the podium for the second event in a row. He is now in second place in the championship standings behind teammate Jeremy Poret, with Raphael Maurin just five points adrift. With a lead of more than eighty points, Poret will be very hard to catch.
